Chickens and a garden, summer watermelons, canning pickles and vegetables, LOTS of great fishing, and church. That’s a pretty good depiction of my youth. “I grew up in Florida. I was 8 years old when we moved here, from Alabama. Some people claim that Florida isn’t “Southern” … but it is, depending on what part of the state you live in, and the people that were involved in your upbringing.
The title of my show is based on a very old postcard I found, it is of the St John’s River area, and the sender had written on the back of the card, “This is where the alligators live”. I just LOVED that description of a river I have spent a lot of time on, boating and fishing… and spying alligators.” ~Renee Decator
